Two Photographers are Better than One

Essential Moments Photography is a two photographer team: Two professional photographers, working together to bring you the best possible wedding coverage (we will often bring an assistant along besides).

We have both shot weddings individually, and have each come to the conclusion that working as team leads to better coverage and better images. Here's why:

No Missed Shots

With two photographers, we can be in two places at once. Think, for instance, of that moment when the groom, up at the front, is waiting to see his bride for the first time. That is a moment that has to be captured. At the same time, the father is about to walk his daughter down the aisle and give her away. They have a few moments alone before the doors open. That is also a moment that can't be missed.

This happens all the time: when the bride and groom are getting ready in different rooms, when close-ups during the ceremony come at the expense of great panoramic shots, when one wants shots of the people giving toasts as well as the bride and groom's reaction, the bride tossing the bouquet and all those scrambling to catch it.

With one main photographer, these situations create a moment of sacrifice. With two photographers, we sacrifice nothing. You get all the shots.

Complementary Skills

Each of us has our own particular points of emphasis, our own experience and skills, and creative energy, but with a shared vision of what great photography is. We each have our own creative eye, so one will see things that the other might have missed.

Security

It is very rare, but sometimes accidents and emergencies happen. I've heard of photographers who had to miss a wedding at the last minute; but with Essential Moments Photography, if an emergency hits one of us, there is another photographer, and not just an intern or assistant, but a talented, experienced photographer, ready to go.

But that is just an insurance policy for extraordinary situations. Normally, we shoot as a team. Because two photographers are better than one.
